Primary Purpose of the Role

To assist in the delivery of teaching, tutorials/ practical sessions, supervision and mentorship of students in community development practice. To support curriculum delivery, participate in applied research, and contribute to community engagement and departmental administration. The Tutorial Fellow will help maintain the high quality and student-centred learning environment in line with AMIU’s mission to develop transformational practitioners.

Key Responsibilities

Qualifications

Essential qualifications &amp; experience

	<li>A Master’s degree in Community Development, Development Studies, Social Work, Public Health, Community Health (with substantial Public and Community development component), or its equivalent.</li>
	<li>Membership or registration with a relevant professional body for community development practitioners or public health practitioners or its equivalent.</li>
	<li>Teaching or tutorial experience of at least four (4) years at the tertiary/university level (e.g., postgraduate or undergraduate tutorials), OR relevant experience in community development fieldwork.</li>

Key Responsibilities&nbsp;&nbsp;

Qualifications&nbsp;&nbsp;

<li>Must hold a PhD in Nursing (Midwifery and Obstetric Nursing) or an equivalent qualification from a recognized university.  &nbsp;</li>
<li>Evidence of peer-reviewed publications, achieving a minimum of 28 points since being appointed as a lecturer or senior lecturer.  &nbsp;</li>
<li>Registration with the relevant professional bodies is required.  &nbsp;</li>

Experience Requirements&nbsp;&nbsp;
<ul>
<li>A minimum of three (3) years of full-time teaching experience at the university level as a lecturer, or at least six (6) years of relevant industry experience.  &nbsp;</li>
<li>Experience supervising at least three (3) postgraduate students to completion as a lecturer.  &nbsp;</li>
<li>Familiarity with quality assurance and accreditation requirements set by relevant regulatory organizations, as well as contributions to the accreditation of programs and quality control processes.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Experience in grant writing, with a demonstrated ability to lead research projects, secure funding opportunities, and generate income is an added advantage.  &nbsp;</li>
<li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.  &nbsp;</li>
<li>Evidence of participation in research activities is required.  &nbsp;</li>
<li>Demonstrated capability in fundraising is a plus.  &nbsp;</li>
<li>Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.  &nbsp;</li>

Senior Lecturer – Obstetric/Midwifery Nursing

Main Purpose of the Job:

Reporting to the respective Head of Department, the primary purpose of this role is to provide academic leadership in the development, management, strategic direction, and quality assurance of postgraduate and undergraduate programmes in Public Health. This involves spearheading curriculum innovation, fostering excellence in teaching and research, and enhancing the accreditation and standing of academic programmes by relevant professional bodies and the Commission of University Education. The role requires strategic collaboration with the Head of Department to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of teaching and research, aligning with the University's strategy, policies, and procedures. Furthermore, the incumbent will lead significant research activities, secure funding, and actively participate in departmental and institutional enterprise as well as outreach activities.

	<li>Secure substantial external research funding as a Principal Investigator or key collaborator.</li>
	<li>Supervise and mentor postgraduate students, particularly at the doctoral level, to successful completion.</li>
	<li>Provide mentorship and guidance to junior academic staff to foster their professional development and research capacity.</li>
	<li>Contribute significantly to University governance, policy development, and strategic planning.</li>
	<li>Represent the University and its programmes at national, regional, and international forums and conferences.</li>

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

	<li>Applicant must meet requirements for appointment to the position of Professor or Associate Professor as per the Commission for University Education Standards; earned PhD in Public Health, Community Health, Epidemiology, Nutrition or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant field from an accredited and recognized university.</li>
