Roles and Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Provide trainings to the groups, CBOs on group dynamics and animal welfare.</li>
<li>Assess and identify community capacity gaps, needs and root causes on equine husbandry and management practices and related social-economic needs.</li>
<li>Develop and implement interventions to address the gaps, needs and root causes identified above in a sustainable manner.</li>
<li>Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the interventions, and follow up with relevant adjustments.</li>
<li>Continuously implement follow up actions or adjustments on the basis of information gathered from the evaluation above.</li>
<li>Explore innovative capacity building methods, tools and techniques that are suitable and sensitive to distinct community groupings, demographics and contexts for sustainable behaviour change.</li>
<li>Strengthen community-based structures among target equine owning communities that assure sustainable project interventions.</li>
<li>Participate in identification of gaps in and value addition to resource and material requirements related to community engagement.</li>
<li>Prepare for and deliver content during planned trainings, ensure learning capacity building road map; matching session plans for each training session; and conduct monitoring visits to follow up on the use of C4A tools.</li>
<li>Mentor community animal welfare ambassadors.</li>
<li>Participate from time to time in meetings or initiatives with other like-minded stakeholders in animal welfare and livelihoods sectors.</li>
<li>Compile weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual Reports.</li>
<li>Management of organization funds, accounting and financial reporting as per activities planned and carried out.</li>
<li>Organize field days and outreach programs to farmers in collaboration with other stakeholders.</li>
<li>Support in fundraising to ensure and support programme growth and project sustainability.</li>

Knowledge and Skills Required

<li>Minimum bachelor degree in community development studies, social work, sociology, agriculture and human Ecology or related area of study</li>
<li>Minimum 2 years’ field-based experience in community development, using sustainable and transformative approaches and tools</li>

Community Development Officer

Executive Director’s roles
<ul>
<li>On behalf of the Board of directors implement appropriate strategies, plans and procedures to ensure achievement of the FSK Vision and Mission;</li>
<li>Provide strategic leadership and direction to the Management Team so as to ensure delivery of corporate objectives and Programs;</li>
<li>Ensure Programme Delivery and quality</li>
<li>Ensure programmes respond to contextual needs, using Theory of Change, community centred methodologies, flexibility, and adaptability.</li>
<li>Ensure qualitative deliverables and robust monitoring/evaluation, reporting and auditing of programmatic activities and financial expenditures, compliance set guidelines including with procurement procedures and risks management aspects of the organization’s framework and design.</li>
<li>Take responsibility for fulfilling all contractual terms of grants including compliance that fall under the organization’s portfolio, reporting, procurement, retention of documentation, etc. providing oversight and guarantee deliverables within the contractual timelines and quality standards.</li>
<li>Ensure all key programme information is recorded and stored for future retrieval.</li>
<li>Make quality checks, at least quarterly, to ensure confidence with the quality of data.</li>
<li>Oversee day-to-day administrative matters and establish effective structures, processes and systems to ensure appropriate control over FSK operations;</li>
<li>Creating opportunities for FSK geared towards its sustainability as an institution. The executive director is responsible for presenting the annual budget on time and making sure that all other financial tasks are completed in an efficient and timely manner. Lastly, he/she is responsible for protecting the assets of FSK against fraud and financial abuse.</li>
<li>Spearhead the establishment and sustenance of networks and partnerships to ensure the FSK ’s financial sustainability through effective financial and resource mobilization strategies;</li>
<li>Organization, Staffing, and Recruitment based on needs and as directed by the board, assigning of duties and remuneration of the same accordingly.</li>
<li>Hiring and firing of staff following the laid down procedures as established by FSK policy document.</li>
</ul>
Support the Board of Directors by:-
<ul>
<li>Facilitating discussion on important topics relevant to meetings</li>
<li>Keeping them informed of decisions and changes.</li>
<li>To ensure that all Departmental heads/branch heads come up with job descriptions for their respective staff and that all staff are fully deployed and productive.</li>
<li>Ensure compliance with applicable statutory, legal and regulatory requirements and establish mitigation measures against emerging programs, business risks and operational risks;</li>
<li>Enhance the Farming Systems Kenya’s public image by promoting and upholding high standards of integrity and governance within the organization and cultivating positive working relationships with all stakeholders.</li>
<li>Maintain a conducive work environment that helps attract, retain and motivate employees and foster a culture that promotes ethical practices and good corporate citizenship.</li>
<li>Spearhead resource mobilization strategy for the organization.</li>
<li>In consultation with the Board, provide leadership for the advocacy work of the organization</li>
<li>FSK official spokesperson together with the chairman of the board consequently serving as the official link between FSK and all external partners and collaborators.</li>

Professional requirements
<ul>
<li>Applicants must possess the following minimum qualifications:</li>
<li>Master’s Degree preferably from the field of agriculture or related field from a reputable University or 1st degree with a minimum of 5 years’ experience will be considered</li>
<li>Appropriate professional experience in a management position preferably within the NGO environment will be an added advantage.</li>
<li>Strong programme management, Capacity Development, Strategic Management and</li>
<li>Human Resource Management skills.</li>
<li>Must be able to manage staff members with vision, motivation and responsibility to excel.</li>
<li>Should have a strong financial management, negotiation, planning and budgeting including fundraising skills.</li>
</ul>

Executive Director

Responsibilities:

<li>Effective Project Planning and Implementation 40%</li>
<li>Provide field-level technical implementation leadership on maternal and nutrition</li>
<li>Ensure nutrition project implemented as per government and donor guidelines</li>
<li>Develop quality project work plans with clear targets, budgets and implementation matrices</li>
<li>Mobilize communities for project implementation</li>
<li>Ensure proper and timely implementation of nutrition interventions in the project as per approved work plans MoH standards and requirements</li>
<li>Track, in liaison with Project Accountant, project implementation expenditure levels and manage work plans and budgets;</li>
<li>Timely Mobilization and effective communication with communities and stakeholders</li>
<li>Ensure effective integration of gender, child protection, disability, Christian commitment, advocacy and environmental protection into Health interventions</li>
<li>Ensure participation in Sub-county and County level partnerships with NGOs and other actors working health and nutrition to influence the Maternal and Nutrition agenda</li>
<li>Plan and coordinate technical training for Ministry of health staff at County, Sub- County and Community Level such as Community Health Promoters</li>

Quality Assurance - Monitoring, Reporting and Documentation 25%
<ul>
<li>Develop quality reports (Annual, Semi-annul and Monthly Management Reports) in- line with BMZ reporting guidelines;</li>
<li>Ensure monthly monitoring of indicators as per schedule developed together with communities and partners;</li>
<li>Analyze and utilize Maternal, Newborn and Child Health data and take appropriate programming measures as may apply;</li>
<li>Ensure participatory monthly data collection (involving community groups and partners);</li>
<li>Support the utilization of Maternal, Newborn and Child Health DME softwares for accurate data entry and analysis using the standardized tools;</li>
<li>Facilitate regular reflections on monitoring practice to make improvements as needed</li>
<li>Contextualize and utilize reporting guidelines;</li>
<li>Monthly monitor project expenditure and level of implementation and report on any variances to Project Manager for decision making;</li>
<li>Identify best practices on Maternal, Newborn and Child Health within the Project for documentation;</li>

Enhanced Empowerment &amp; Capacity building 10%
<ul>
<li>Capacity Building of CBOs and Committees to be able to effectively manage and sustain Maternal, Newborn and Child Health interventions</li>
<li>Capacity building of community members in programming and implementation of Maternal, Newborn and Child Health projects, empowerment and sustainability issues including Empowered World View.</li>
<li>Support preparation and conducting Maternal, Newborn and Child Health projects, empowerment and sustainability training sessions.</li>
</ul>
Advocacy, Engagement, Networking and Partnerships 10%
<ul>
<li>Gather and provide quality feedback and data to be used to develop technical papers and recommendations on key issues for external engagement with decision makers</li>
<li>Establish and sustain working relationships with Government Health Departments and</li>
<li>Agencies relevant to the programme’s focus area at the Ward, Sub County and County levels</li>
<li>Participate in the Annual County Government’s Health Planning and Budgeting process and influence resource allocation to the priority needs of the most vulnerable groups within the Programme Area</li>
<li>Ensure that Program participants and partners are kept informed of all the Government laws and policies in respect to the Technical Program being implemented and any changes to government laws, policies and budgets</li>
<li>Work with partners and coalitions to engage in advocacy activities with the government structures at the County level, to address the needs of local communities and inform national level advocacy initiatives</li>
<li>With support from WVK Work with community groups to utilize advocacy approaches such as Citizen Voice and Action (CVA) and Child Protection Advocacy (CPA) to enable service users and local partners to engage directly with local government service providers to improve the quality of government services for children and to generate information and evidence for use in national level advocacy work.</li>
<li>Ensure effective mobilization of community groups, youth and children, empowering them to hold their governments to account</li>
<li>Support communities groups, youth and children to engage constructively with duty bearers and service providers to improve access to, and quality of, essential services</li>

Resource Acquisition 10%

<li>Provide information to inform fund raising initiatives for Health &amp; Nutrition at all levels</li>
<li>Develop timely and accurate funding proposals in line with donor requirements and WVK standards in collaboration with AP Manager and other sector specialists</li>
<li>Mobilize the community for community contribution for project intervention</li>

Project integration 5%
<ul>
<li>Ensure project is integrated to existing WVK and FSK projects Others</li>

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

<li>A degree in Nutrition &amp; Dietetics or its equivalent</li>
<li>Minimum three years working experience in a Maternal and Nutrition interventions</li>
<li>Registration and Up to date License with KNDI</li>
<li>Good understanding of Ministry of health systems, programming models, standards and guidelines Ministries of Health structures at county and national levels</li>
<li>Excellent communication and presentation skills in English and Swahili.</li>
<li>Experience of working with National and County government structures</li>
<li>Experience in dealing with international donors, international organizations, the corporate sector and/or large multi-mandate development NGOs</li>

Project Officer, Nutrition

Farming Systems Kenya is a registered Faith Based NGO that has been operating in Kenya since 1981 to reduce poverty through agricultural and community development interventions. The organization works with and supports small-holder farmers to improve their productivity and incomes. To this end, the organization wishes to recruit a competent, qualified and result oriented person to fill the position of a project accountant under the Boosting Resilience for Vulnerable Rural Households in Baringo County Project. The accountant will be responsible for preparing payments and accounting reports for the project.&nbsp;

Main tasks and responsibilities
• The senior accountant oversees the overall finance and administration operations of Farming Systems Kenya.
• He/she assists the Executive Director in all logistical and non-direct aspects of finance and human administration management.
• Assists in writing and implementing the long- and short-term strategic plans for Farming Systems Kenya.
• Oversees financial management for programmes delivery including personnel, budgets and accounting, MEAL, and risk assessments.
• Oversees the finance department in the maintenance of accurate financial records, financial reporting, and budgeting.
• Ensures compliance with all relevant Kenyan laws regarding revenue, staff taxation and benefits, reporting to the NGO Bureau and any other statutory matters.
• Leads HR activities including hiring (developing job descriptions, postings, screening, interviewing), coordinating benefits, and terminations.
• Ensures all personnel files are kept up to date and supports the Programmes Manager and Executive Director in timely completion of employment contracts, performance appraisals, and performance improvement plans (PIP), if required.
• Oversees day-to-day operations of the offices including: ICT needs and office maintenance
• Provides or coordinates relevant training and follow-up support to staff as needed.
• Supports in fundraising within Kenya and abroad.
• Coordinates all Farming Systems Kenya’s financial audits

Reporting line
The Senior accountant will be appointed by the Board of Directors, Farming Systems Kenya and will report to the Executive Director.
