The Role

<ul>
	<li>Our International Development team is looking for an Executive to work on clients across a mix of global development issues, such as climate change, global health, gender equality, etc. Professional fluency in French will be required.</li>
	<li>The Executive will be required to carry out the following key tasks within the International team:</li>
	<li>Staying on top of trends and news in the international development space</li>
	<li>Supporting with the delivery of client programmes across philanthropy, global health, and climate sectors</li>
	<li>Drafting communications content including press releases, opinion pieces, website copy, and social media posts, etc.</li>
	<li>Conducting global media activities, including sell-ins to global anglophone and francophone media, preparing journalist biographies and briefing notes for clients</li>
	<li>Preparing and maintaining media distribution lists for press releases</li>
	<li>Carrying out research and analysis to inform client strategies, including digital, media, and policy audits</li>
</ul>

Key Requirements

Executive (English with French) – International Development

<ul>
<li>We also provide expert advice and delivery in an increasingly digital world, taking a multi-channel approach to meet clients’ communications objectives through traditional and social media.</li>
</ul>
Key Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>The Associate Consultant will be required to carry out all or some of the following key tasks within the Global Impact team, from our Nairobi office:</li>
<li>Researching and sourcing information and shaping reports that have value for our clients</li>
<li>Tracking issues in the media, relevant to designated clients, and make proactive recommendations of activities they could be pursuing</li>
<li>Supporting the community management of client’s social media platforms including Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn</li>
<li>Delivering social media analysis, content planning and online influencer mapping, and make creative recommendations</li>
<li>Helping build integrated pan African communications plans for our clients</li>
<li>Helping develop messaging for our clients</li>
<li>Drafting press releases, opinion articles, website copy, background material etc</li>
<li>Preparing journalist biographies and briefing notes for clients</li>
<li>Helping coordinate and deliver media engagement with journalists in Africa</li>
<li>Develop and nurture relationships with key African journalists</li>
<li>Coordinating work with our network of local partner agencies and other agencies of the Omnicom Group across the African continent</li>
<li>The associate consultant will work under the responsibility of their line manager in Nairobi, in close coordination with Portland’s Global Impact team in London</li>

Requirements
Providing a quality service:

<li>Have the ability to conduct comprehensive analysis of information to tight deadlines ensuring accuracy and relevance</li>
<li>Have a very good knowledge of the national and international media landscape in Kenya, East Africa and at Pan African level</li>
<li>Have experience of using social media platforms in a professional capacity</li>
<li>Have excellent writing skills in English; other language skills would be appreciated</li>
<li>Be proficient in the use of research and data analytics tools</li>

Qualifications and skills:

<li>Experience of global development, working with philanthropic organisations, United Nations agencies, advocacy groups or international corporations is an advantage</li>
<li>Experience in journalism, blogging and social media is an advantage</li>

Associate Consultant

The role
<ul>
<li>We are looking for an established Consultant (equivalent of an Account Manager / Senior Account Manager) to work from our Nairobi office on a number of our prestigious clients in Africa.</li>
<li>The Consultant may be required to carry out all or some of the following key tasks within the Nairobi office while working closely with the London office:</li>
</ul>
Account management
<ul>
<li>Manage the day-to-day work of your account teams, reporting to Senior Consultants, Partners and Directors</li>
<li>Establish professional relationships with colleagues and clients alike</li>
<li>Taking responsibility for full tactical implementation of client activity</li>
<li>Researching and sourcing information and shaping reports that have value for our clients</li>
<li>Providing advice on policy and media issues</li>
<li>Tracking issues in the media, relevant to our clients, and making proactive recommendations of activities</li>
<li>Sourcing and preparing detailed draft research briefs and media analysis reports</li>

Person specification:
You must:
<ul>
<li>This role requires an individual with a strong background in communications, who thrives on managing complex issues and projects. You will be commercially driven and ambitious to help us to develop a talented team in a fast-growing consultancy</li>
<li>Industry experience is essential, ideally at a leading communications consultancy, an in-house role or working in media</li>
<li>Demonstrable expertise in managing and implementing insight-led communications campaigns</li>
<li>Experience managing accounts and bringing teams together to achieve their objectives, with excellent people skills</li>
<li>Strong business development expertise, with experience in writing proposals</li>
<li>Excellent problem-solving capabilities with a strong point of view on the industry.</li>
<li>A strong mix of media, digital and political/policy capabilities is required</li>

Consultant

The role
We are looking for an Intern to join our team based in Nairobi for 12 weeks to support on some exciting projects for our prestigious clients in Africa.

<li>You will be embedded in account teams and your work is likely to include content creation, copywriting, policy research and supporting events</li>
<li>The role presents an opportunity to learn from some of the best PR and Communications consultants in the industry</li>

Key responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Monitoring political, parliamentary, media and social media activity, sometimes on a daily basis</li>
<li>Conducting research and helping the team to map relevant stakeholders across the media, politics, policy and specialisms</li>
