Job Summary
Wildlife Works is seeking a GIS/Data Analyst to contribute to geospatial and data-based forest science tasks for successful avoided deforestation projects in the Global South. The candidate should have strong geospatial skills and experience in GIS and remote sensing, ideally with experience in forestry and biodiversity conservation. This position requires an exceptional communicator who can adeptly navigate complex, evolving geospatial challenges.
Reporting to the Manager - Geospatial Science in Burlington, Vermont USA, the GIS/Data Analyst will be based in the Nairobi office, working daily with the East Africa regional staff and other team members. They will contribute to Project Description (PD) documents and yearly monitoring reports (MRs), as well as project sourcing and feasibility studies. The ideal candidate is passionate, has proven expertise in geospatial techniques, and is committed to making tangible social and biodiversity impacts with market-based forest conservation. This individual will work with global teams, government counterparts, and local communities.
Responsibilities
General Duties:
<ul>
<li> Support WWC teams in Nairobi and the US with geospatial tasks.</li>
<li> Assist project sourcing at pre-feasibility stage and in cartography for feasibility studies, PDs and MRs.</li>
<li> Support forest inventory tasks and ensure secure data transfer.</li>
</ul>
GIS Skills:
<ul>
<li> Cartography, geoprocessing and spatial data management using ArcGIS Pro.</li>
<li> Land use/land cover change analysis and image classification techniques.</li>
<li> Focus on East African dryland forest observation and geospatial analysis.</li>
</ul>
Forestry/Biometrics:
<ul>
<li> Conduct field visits for forest biometrics collection (DBH, crown cover, tree height).</li>
<li> Lead GPS navigation and train local stakeholders.</li>
<li> Familiarity with standard forestry equipment.</li>

Requirements 
Required
<ul>
<li> Candidates should possess at minimum a bachelor’s degree in physical geography, forestry, environmental science or another similar field and with university qualifications in GIS / remote sensing.</li>
<li> At least five years of full-time work in the field of environmental science or forestry.</li>
<li> Excellence in GIS analysis (ArcGIS Pro preferred), including cartography, raster and vector data organization, geoprocessing and vector editing.</li>
<li> Computer proficiency is required with the ability to effortlessly use mainstream software.</li>
<li> Experience working in an international, diverse, and rapidly growing team, with ability to perform under tight deadlines and accept a dynamic work environment.</li>
<li> Excellent interpersonal abilities for effective multi-cultural team collaboration.</li>
<li> Strong communication skills, organized, thorough and detail oriented.</li>
<li> Written and spoken fluency in English and Kiswahili.</li>
<li> Legal authorization to work in Kenya.</li>

Computer Skills:

<li> Mastery of ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro.</li>
<li> Advanced knowledge of Excel and Word, Adobe products and programming (Python, Google Earth Engine, .NET) desirable.</li>

GIS / Data Analyst

Job Summary
The East Africa Regional Communications manager will manage all media and marketing communications content from existing projects and pipeline projects for regional distribution and to the global communications team with the goal to elevate Wildlife Works awareness and reputation.
Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Develop and execute local digital, radio and media campaigns to raise awareness and brand reputation in Kenya and East Africa regions</li>
<li>Manage regional social media accounts</li>
<li>Write and pitch stories to local and national press</li>
<li>Manage all press inquiries, trips and stories requests</li>
<li>Support regional director and sourcing team on communications and advocacy materials needed to elevate Wildlife Works reputation to secure project partners</li>
<li>Work directly with global communications team to develop regional story themes and assignments for field teams from each project</li>
<li>Manage the individuals who will be collecting content from each project</li>
<li>o Train field team members who have been assigned to communications / content gathering for marketing and communications teams</li>
<li>Draft content from information gathered from project sites and send to global communications team for final editing and distribution</li>
<li>Travel to projects to do larger story sourcing - once per month or two months or as needed</li>
<li>Organize and manage all digital storage of footage for archiving and ease of sharing with proper identification and full credits.</li>

Requirements
<ul>
<li>Bachelor's degree in Communications or related field</li>
<li>At least 5 years experience developing and executing a communications strategy</li>
<li>Excellent english writing and verbal storytelling skills and training</li>
<li>Journalism background, training or similar</li>
<li>Experience in conservation is a plus</li>
<li>Proficient in English and Swahili</li>
<li>Good listener with strong people skills to interview people from different backgrounds in our project communities</li>

Regional Communications Manager - East Africa

The Climate Policy Director Africa position is a senior role that will be responsible for analyzing climate and forestry policy, as well as voluntary and compliance market and REDD+ regulation as emerging across Africa, and for identifying and implementing opportunities for Wildlife Works’ active participation in the creation of the carbon markets in Africa. The Climate Policy Director position will be preferably be based in Nairobi or Accra and will be part of the global Policy and External Affairs Department (PEAD) based in the UK. While the position focuses on Africa and will work closely with Wildlife Works regional and country teams in Africa, collaboration across regions to foster south-south collaboration particularly between the DRC, Brazil and Indonesia will be part of the role.
Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Carry out policy and legislative research on domestic climate policies, National Determined Contributions, forest conservation strategies (REDD+) as well as voluntary and compliance carbon pricing plans across countries of interest to WWC in Africa.</li>
<li>Develop and implement high-level government engagement strategies to foster south-south collaboration between governments on creating investment environments and REDD+ regulation that attract private finance.</li>
<li>Develop and implement an advocacy strategy to develop an African perspective on quality REDD+ credits and promote its adoption in national regulation, in close collaboration with WWC departments.</li>
<li>Be a main contact and spokesperson for WWC’s quality REDD+ projects in the region.</li>
<li>Support feasibility studies and build government relations as needed.</li>
<li>Support communications strategies with public and expert audiences as needed.</li>
<li>Develop and write presentations, reports, and training materials for use in the region, and across different time zones.</li>
<li>Perform other duties as assigned.</li>

Requirements
<ul>
<li>Master’s degree in environmental law, environmental policy or related field preferred.</li>
<li>7 Years of demonstrable relevant working experience in the public sector or in a regulatory affairs function for a profit or non-profit organization</li>
<li>Understanding of national climate policies, Nationally Determined Contributions, and interlinkages with forest and land use sector strategies in the region.</li>
<li>Familiarity with policy, legal, and institutional frameworks in areas relevant to private REDD+ project implementation, including forest and land licensing and land titling.</li>
<li>Ability to accurately interpret legal documents and clearly convey their contents.</li>
<li>Ability to maintain good communications and reports across two teams, one international and one national.</li>
<li>Ability to work within timeframe of standard policies and procedures.</li>
<li>Excellent ability to multi-task and prioritize in a busy, fast-growth environment.</li>
<li>Team player with an ability and willingness to build new knowledge and share it across teams and countries.</li>
