Key responsibilities:

	<li>The post-holder will use the ZSL Impact Framework to assess the outputs, outcomes, and impact of ZSL's projects and programmes in Asia and work closely with the Planning, Design, and Impact Team to use that information to help communicate the impact of ZSL’s work.</li>
	<li>When appropriate, the post-holder will input into the development of data collection, management, storage and analysis processes and systems in line with approaches being developed for the whole organisation. Initially, this will involve helping test a system for data collection and cloud-based data management using existing tools which ZSL currently has access to.</li>
	<li>Assist if/as needed with periodic impact evaluations of C&amp;P’s projects and programmes, including for donor purposes and the ZSL annual report.</li>

Minimum requirements

Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning Regional Support Officer: Africa

The Project Manager will be responsible for the effective management and coordination of the MENTOR-HAWLT program, which aims to combat the illegal trade in reptiles and amphibians in Kenya and East Africa. This position will oversee the implementation of all program activities, manage relationships with stakeholders, and ensure compliance with donor and organizational standards.
Key responsibilities:  
<ul>
<li>Meet regularly with USFWS (bi-weekly or semi-regularly as needed) on MENTOR co-design, including criteria for selection of focus areas, Fellows, Mentors, Trainers, and curriculum development</li>
<li>Lead capacity development efforts for the MENTOR Fellows</li>
<li>Work with the Mentors to facilitate capacity development for the Fellows and develop a supportive culture for continuous learning and mentoring</li>
<li>Draft position opportunity for Fellows and Mentors and assist with advertising the MENTOR program within the East Africa conservation community</li>
<li>Coordinate Fellow and Mentor selection processes</li>

About You

Key responsibilities

<li>Lead provision of training, technical support, and advice on monitoring in PCAs to partners in ZSL and non-ZSL supported sites, focusing on common monitoring methods, including but not limited to the SMART Approach.</li>
<li>Lead delivery and management of PCA monitoring projects in collaboration with internal and external partners, including support for and implementation of survey design, data collection, data management, and analysis and reporting, with the ultimate aim of enabling partners to use results to inform and improve PCA management.</li>

Experience, knowledge, and skills
Essential

<li>Excellent conservation monitoring skills, with significant experience using and knowledge of a range of methods, tools, and technologies relevant to management of Protected and Conserved Areas (PCAs), such as SMART, camera trapping, EarthRanger, and the METT. Experience with SMART is essential.</li>

The role will provide operational leadership to ZSL’s Kenya Programme in line with its existing projects and strategic aims on a 1 year fixed term contract the post holder will develop deep understanding of the operational support requirements of the programme and develop and collaborate closely with the Operations team and key cross-society functions at ZSL’s London HQ to design and embed tools, processes and principles that build capacity and effectiveness in operations and project delivery.
