ABOUT YOU

You are a senior finance and accounting leader, and a registered CPA (or equivalent). You are a self-starter with experience as a ‘top-performer’ at a leading international organization, a passion for international development, and an entrepreneurial spirit.

Required qualifications

  • Multinational experience essential and required, including in one or more frontier/emerging market contexts such as Sub-Saharan African and/or South Asia
  • Registered CPA (or equivalent), with Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related field
  • Minimum 4 years as a Controller (Director-level), or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years public accounting and finance experience
  • Familiarity with one or more complex global ERP systems such as Deltek/Maconomy
  • Experience driving transformation and efficiencies in controls and accounting systems
  • Able to centrally consolidate accounting information across foreign operations and prepare robust consolidated financials for audit/tax purposes
  • Strong analytical, technology, communication and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated success managing and working across a high-energy, multicultural team spread around the globe, including in training and coaching accounting and finance skills, and passion for supporting a global team to achieve the necessary levels of skills and independence to execute their role effectively
  • Interest in working in a fast-paced, always-on, entrepreneurial organization, and track record of being “hands-on” and work directly on details when necessary to get tasks done
  • English fluency

Additional ideal qualifications:

  • In addition to English fluency, fluency in French or other languages is a plus but not required
  • Ideally located and authorized to work in India or Sub-Saharan Africa
  • Ideally brings strong international tax experience
  • Technology or software experience highly preferred
  • Ideally 4+ years of work experience in a multi-national professional services firm (preferably a mid-sized and fast-growing firm)
  • Ideally served in the role of Chief Financial Officer, e.g. could be in a small or mid-size enterprise and/or non-professional services context

WHAT YOU WILL DO AND HOW YOU WILL GROW

The Global Controller will centrally oversee accounting across all regions, execute and monitor internal controls, and steward finance-related risk processes. They will play a crucial role as part of the global leadership team for Dalberg’s Finance operations. They will report directly to the Global Operating Partner, and have the following primary responsibilities:

  • Plan, direct and coordinate across all accounting operational functions
  • Maintain an in-depth, and up to date knowledge and understanding of both US and international accounting principles (including IFRS, UK GAAP and US GAAP)
  • Oversee revenue recognition processes and develop and implement any changes needed to both comply with accounting principles and meet business demands
  • Review, establish, implement, maintain and monitor critical accounting and internal control policies, processes and associated metrics
  • Review monthly accounting close process including analytical review of the operating results to ensure accurate accounting records are maintained
  • Evaluate current annual close processes and timelines and implement solutions to reduce effort and duration
  • Supervise the consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results
  • Providing management team with timely information vital to the decision-making process
  • Oversee global cash reporting and facilitate cash flow forecasting
  • Ensure consistent standards and tools are utilized in annual budgeting process across business units and centrally
  • Work closely with management team, set standards and drive compliance across the entire organization
  • Manage or serve as global liaison with external auditors to facilitate completion of audit procedures in a timely and efficient manner as needed
  • Directly oversee accounting for Global Shared Services (GSS)
  • Maintain Global Reserve Fund (GRF) including regular accounting and reporting on the fund’s balance sheet, monitoring status of (re-)payments into the fund, and ensuring compliance with uses of the fund

Reports:

The Global Controller will directly supervise a small team – including but not limited to a Global Manager responsible for central data management, accounting and control related processes. Specifically on matters of accounting and internal controls, members of regional finance teams will report and be ultimately accountable to the Controller.
