About One Acre Fund

Founded in 2006, One Acre Fund equips 5.5 million smallholder farmers to make their farms more productive. Across nine countries that together are home to two-thirds of Africa's farmers, we provide high-quality farm supplies, tree seedlings, accessible credit, modern agronomic training, and a wide range of other agricultural services. On average, this model enables any farmer to increase their income and assets on supported land by more than 35 percent, while permanently improving their resilience. This is all made possible by our team of 9,000+ full-time staff, drawn from diverse backgrounds and professions. To learn more, please see our Why Work Here blog post.

About the Young Professionals Program

One Acre Fund’s Young Professionals Program offers high-performing African graduates meaningful internships and training opportunities at a high-performing, mission-driven organization. Our internships are paid and all interns can expect to receive substantive work assignments working on high-impact projects that support One Acre Fund's operations.

When joining, interns will participate in an onboarding program and receive training on how to design and execute projects. Over the period of your internship, you will get the opportunity to work with like-minded individuals and receive learning opportunities to build strong foundations for your future career.

About the Role

The Global Data Analyst will use large, diverse, cross-country datasets to build foundational data products that enable better decision-making across the organization. This role will focus on creating high-quality dashboards and reports that are trusted, scalable, and widely used — in service of our mission: bigger harvests, healthier families, and richer soil for smallholder farmers.

Responsibilities

Build Foundational BI Data Products

  • Design, build, and maintain high-impact operational reports (to run day-to-day work) and dashboards (for oversight/KPI purposes), to enable analytics across functions.
  • Ensure dashboards and reports are accurate, well-documented, and built for long-term sustainability.
  • Monitor adoption and continuously improve usability and relevance. This role is less focused on one-off data projects and more focused on building durable tools that people consistently use and trust.

Managing Tech Service Desk Day-to-Day Operations:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the tech service desk, ensuring high-quality service and efficient problem resolution.
  • Ensure timely escalation and resolution of issues, acting as the first point of contact for critical service desk matters.
  • Manage service desk workflows, track performance, and ensure proper follow-up on all service requests.

Own department Analytical Domains and Partner with Data Engineering

  • Serve as the primary analyst for the department.
  • Deeply understand business processes and logic within the department..
  • Own the full delivery of dashboards and data analytics products: make prioritization decisions, understand user needs, wireframe and design outputs, and own delivery and iteration.
  • Partner closely with Data Engineers to ensure business rules are embedded in the warehouse and semantic layer.
  • Clearly communicate data limitations and ensure metric consistency.
  • The goal is to ensure logic lives in the data model, not scattered across dashboards.

Strengthen Analytical Standards Across the Global Supply Chain (GSC) Department.

  • Contribute to a community of practice for embedded analysts across OAF.
  • Codify and uphold standards for dashboard design, documentation, governance, and metric definition.
  • Support the adoption of best practices in BI development and data storytelling.
  • Provide technical coaching and support skill development across GSC

Career Growth and Development

We have a strong culture of constant learning and we deeply invest in our people. You’ll have weekly check-ins with your manager, access to mentorship and training, and regular feedback on your performance. • 2+ years of experience in data analytics or BI development.
  • Strong SQL skills; working knowledge of Python or R preferred.
  • Experience building automated data workflows and scalable dashboards in BI tools (Superset, Power BI, Dataiku preferred).
  • User-Centric Data Design: Proven ability to practice stakeholder empathy, moving beyond simple requirements-gathering to deeply understand the operational context of our users
  • Understanding of data modeling concepts and semantic layers.
  • Ability to translate complex business logic into clear, usable data products.
  • Experience with data storytelling and communicating insights to diverse audiences.
  • Strong writer and verbal communicator in English with the ability to create clear, concise documentation and conduct effective training sessions.
