Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance program for the hospital's equipment, systems, and facilities.
  • Coordinate with various CTC departments to help identify and refine their needs and requirements to develop various types of designs and operations as well as maintenance briefs.
  • Oversee the installation, maintenance and repair activities of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and other technical systems within the hospital.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, safety standards, and industry best practices.
  • Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance checks to identify and address potential issues before they impact operations.
  • Provide sound technical and engineering input in the planning and upgrading of CTC infrastructure (regular and long term) and to review and advice on the design of new developments, renovations and upgrades.
  • Develop various types of action, contingency and emergency response plans and implement safety and fire prevention policies and procedures of the hospital.
  • Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement among the maintenance staff.
  • Coordinate and supervise maintenance staff, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Collaborate with external vendors, contractors, and suppliers to obtain necessary equipment, spare parts, and services.
  • Work with the procurement department to manage the hospital's inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels and proper documentation.
  • Develop and manage the department's budget, monitoring expenses and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, service contracts, and equipment maintenance histories.
  • Ensure the implementation of sustainability initiatives within the hospital's maintenance operations.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance emergencies and coordinate the necessary actions to minimize disruptions and ensure safety.
  • Stay updated on advancements in maintenance technology and industry trends, recommending improvements to enhance
  • efficiency and effectiveness

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering field or higher National Diploma in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) as a Maintenance Manager, preferably within a healthcare setting or similar high-level facility.
  • Strong technical knowledge and understanding of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and safety standards applicable to healthcare facilities.
  • Registration with the Association of Medical Engineering of Kenya will be an added advantage
