Key Responsibilities

  • Direct implementation of ComPAS/IMAM, ensuring management of all under-fives/PLWs enrolled in OTP/TSFP programs in line with the WHO, IMAM and ComPAS protocol. Participate in data collection, data entry in registers and tablets, and reporting of IMAM data.
  • Ensure timely identification and treatment of acutely malnourished children and pregnant and lactating women by creating or strengthening nutrition surveillance and assessment systems at health facilities and community. Train and mentor staff -CHWs, OPD staff, auxiliary nurses on family MUAC approach.
  • Participate in daily ward rounds in the SC ward ensuring that all required observations, prescribed treatment, and procedure are properly carried out and documented in the patients’ cards in line with the national IMAM guidelines.
  • Ensure all children under six months and their mothers are screened and managed according to the MAMI protocol/IMAM guidelines.
  • Support capacity building and OJT for the incentive staff through identification of capacity gaps and supporting training.
  • Implement MIYCN at facility and integrating with CMAM programs through group and individual counselling sessions, health education sessions.
  • Monitor utilization of essential nutrition supplies and ensure daily reconciliation of nutrition supplies.
  • Compile and submit weekly nutrition reports and monthly MOH summary reports for entry into KHIS/LMIS
  • Participate in facility-based data review meetings and share performance on key nutrition indicators.
  • Liaise with pharmacist/facility in-charge and order for nutrition commodities to be prepositioned based on consumption and clients on treatment.
  • Ensure provision of quality nutrition assessment, counselling and support in NCD clinics, MCH/OPD, Medical wards and Special clinics (POPC, LBW/Preterm).
  • Any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Hold a minimum of a Degree in Foods, Nutrition and Dietetics from recognized institution.
  • Must be registered with KNDI.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience within an INGO in implementing emergency community nutrition.
  • Experience of Maternal infant and young child nutrition with strong BFHI/BFCI approaches.
  • Experience in Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition.
  • Experience in nutrition survey and assessment.
  • Proven analytical, communication/ negotiation skills and ability to think strategically.
  • Experience in report writing and excellent computer skills.
  • Ability to work in hardship areas (previous experience in a camp setting will be an added advantage).
  • Flexible and positive personality.
  • Strong planning and implementation capacity.
  • Confident and capable negotiator, communicator and networker.
