JOB CONTEXT

  • Corporate & Investment Banking is a core pillar of Ecobank’s business model, driving significant revenues through coverage, transaction banking, markets, and structured financing solutions. The Regional CIB Head plays a pivotal role in shaping the Bank’s position as a leading Pan-African CIB franchise by integrating product lines, scaling innovation, and deepening client relationships across multinational corporates, financial institutions, governments, and institutional investors.
  • The role requires balancing growth and profitability targets with prudent risk management, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence. The Regional CIB Head must also navigate a highly competitive and rapidly evolving financial services landscape while positioning the region as a growth engine for the Group.

Key Responsibilities
Business and Financial performance

  • Drive revenue growth and profitability across all CIB business lines in the region.
  • Oversee P&L, balance sheet, and capital allocation to ensure sustainable financial performance.
  • Deliver annual budgets and strategic business plans, ensuring alignment with Group CIB objectives.
  • Ensure strong cross-selling across product lines, leveraging client coverage to maximize wallet share.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and optimize returns on capital employed.

Customer Excellence

  • Position Ecobank as the bank of choice for multinational corporates, regional champions, governments, and financial institutions.
  • Deepen client relationships through tailored solutions across global markets, financing, transaction banking, and advisory services.
  • Champion customer-centricity, ensuring seamless service delivery and superior client experience.
  • Build partnerships with key stakeholders, including regulators, investors, and business associations, to enhance market presence.

Leadership and people management

  • Lead, inspire, and manage the regional CIB leadership team (business line heads).
  • Foster a high-performance culture based on accountability, collaboration, and innovation.
  • Identify, develop, and retain top talent across the CIB business lines, with a focus on succession planning.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and leadership development to build capabilities across the region.
  • Promote diversity, inclusion, and alignment with the Group’s leadership values.

Process, control and operational performance

  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, governance frameworks, and regulatory requirements.
  • Embed a strong risk management culture across all CIB businesses, ensuring credit, market, and operational risks are effectively managed.
  • Strengthen operational processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service delivery.
  • Oversee audit, compliance, and control actions, ensuring timely resolution of identified gaps.
  • Leverage technology and digital platforms to streamline operations and enhance client offerings.

Strategic initiatives

  • Drive execution of Group CIB strategic initiatives at the regional level, ensuring clear alignment with global priorities.
  • Identify and capitalize on emerging market opportunities, including infrastructure financing, regional trade flows, and capital markets development.
  • Champion innovation in products and services, particularly in digital solutions for corporates and financial institutions.
  • Represent the Bank in high-level forums, positioning Ecobank as a leading thought leader in regional CIB.
  • Partner with other Group executives to advance cross-border business and integrated solutions across Ecobank’s footprint.

JOB PROFILE
Experience & Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Master’s degree (MBA, MSc) or professional qualifications (CFA, ACCA, etc.) preferred.
  • Minimum of 15–20 years of experience in Corporate & Investment Banking, with at least 7–10 years in senior leadership roles.
  • Proven track record in managing P&L, delivering growth, and leading multi-business line teams.
  • Strong understanding of African and international financial markets, corporate financing, and transaction banking.
  • Extensive experience in client coverage and relationship management at senior levels (C-Suite).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead in a complex, matrixed, and multicultural environment.
