SENIOR LABORATORY TECHNOLOGIST - FOOD SCIENCE (KMFRI GRADE 8) - POSITION - ONE (1)

• Basic Salary Scale: KShs. 53,413 – KShs. 69,436 P.M.
• House Allowance: KShs. 28,000 P.M.
• Commuter Allowance: KShs 6,000 P.M.
• Annual Leave Allowance: KShs 6,000 P.A.
• Medical Cover & Other Allowances: As provided by KMFRI
• Terms of Service: Permanent & Pensionable

a) Duties and responsibilities of the officer will entail;

1. Identifying the chemical and consumables required for an experiment;
2. Collecting and preparing samples and specimens, managing and safely disposing samples and specimens;
3. Maintaining and preserving specimens and cultures;
4. Recording of experimental data;
5. Setting and maintaining laboratory equipment;
6. Maintaining laboratory records; and
7. Maintaining the inventory of laboratory equipment;
8. Carrying out experimental work;
9. Undertaking analytical work;
10. Carrying out demonstrations of laboratory functions to clients/visitors.

b) Requirements for Appointment/Person Specifications

1. Diploma in any of the following disciplines: - Food Science Technology or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
2. KCSE C (Minus)
3. At least three (3) years relevant work experience;
4. Computer Literacy; and
5. Fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution

OR

1. Higher National Diploma in any of the following disciplines: - Food Science Technology or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
2. At least two (2) years relevant work experience;
3. KCSE C (Minus) or equivalent; and
4. Meets the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution

• Good interpersonal and negotiation skills;
• Supervisory skill; and
• Good interpersonal skills.
