Kenya Electricity Generating Company PLC, KenGen  was incorporated on 1 February 1954 under the Companies Act (Chapter 486 of the Laws of Kenya) as Kenya Power Company (KPC) to construct the transmission line between Nairobi and Tororo in Uganda as well as to develop geothermal and other generating facilities in the country. Since its inception, KPC sold electricity in bulk at cost to Kenya Power under a management contract. 

Job Summary

The job holder is responsible for assisting the Company to achieve its strategic goals through implementation of efficient and effective systems of acquisition of goods, works and services, as well as disposal of assets.

Duties and responsibilities

  1. Compiling and submitting procurement plan
  2. Processing purchase requisitions (PRs) from user department
  3. Inviting tenders /quotations for goods, works and services as per the procurement law
  4. Drafting procurement professional opinion (PPOs) papers in liaison with users department
  5. Assisting in preparation of memos for tender opening and evaluation committee members
  6. Evaluating tenders in accordance to the evaluation criteria
  7. Preparing tender evaluation reports
  8. Drafting of notification of award letters
  9. Raising purchase orders for goods, works and services for subsequent approval
  10. Liaising with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of goods and services

Qualifications

  1. Bachelors Degree in Procurement & Supplies Management, Business Administration-Procurement Option, or other relevant field from a recognized Institution.
