<h2>Key Responsibilities:</h2><ul><li>Design and implement testing procedures for specimens received as part of disease outbreak investigations in the country and the region</li><li>Design and implement testing procedures for specialized studies as required by the Laboratory Director</li><li>Work as part of the Microbiology, ELISA, and molecular testing team</li><li>Carry out initial analysis of data collected by the laboratory and liaise with data and epidemiologists on further analysis</li><li>Write manuscripts on research carried out by the laboratory as required by the Laboratory Director</li><li>Receive and consent participants referred to the Eremet health center onsite laboratory for specimen collection</li><li>Perform phlebotomy and prepare samples for investigation purposes</li><li>Collect oropharyngeal and nasopharyngeal swabs as required</li><li>Accurately label and analyze samples (blood, NP/OPs, tissue etc.)</li><li>Proper documentation of applicable study data during all study procedures</li><li>Perform routine maintenance of lab equipment</li><li>Monitor the status of laboratory supplies and make necessary orders</li><li>Complete QA/QC assignments on laboratory data, samples and records</li><li>Keep lab work areas clean and organized</li><li>Assist with laboratory administrative duties.</li><li>Any other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor</li></ul><h2>Vacancy Requirements:</h2><p># Description. Requirement Type 1 Must have a BSc. Degree in Biological Sciences or equivalent Mandatory 2 Must have at least 1 year of experience following the attainment of the degree Mandatory 3 Must have microbiology and molecular biology skills, including real-time RT-PCR Mandatory 4 Fluency in English, Turkana, and Swahili, both written and spoken. Mandatory 5 Be registered and have a valid practicing license from the KMLLTB Mandatory 6 Certificate in “Good Clinical Practice” and/or “Human Subjects Protection.” Mandatory 7 Computer literacy in the Microsoft Office suite.
